  • i am currently w/out health insurance.
but i had to do some pre-grad school check up stuff.
so my dad told me to go to a chinatown doctor,
    since it would be cheaper.
    which it was.
    but for good reason.

    (examining my hurt foot):
doctor: just a muscle strain. rest and put it in hot water.
    me: o, ok, cool.
dr: does tylenol work for you?
me: hmm? o, i should take tylenol?
dr: does it work for you?
me: umm.. i haven't tried it, but i will.
    dr: but is it enough?
me: uhh... i'll try it and see.
dr: you don't need... anything else?
    me: i don't understand.
    dr: anything... stronger?
me: o... uhh... no ... no, i'm good...

    (asking for a physical):
me: i also need a physical.
    dr: what?
me: you know, a physical exam. like checking my blood pressure and height and stuff.
dr: ah, yes, yes. ok. stand here.
(stands me against a door w/ sharpie markered lines for height)
    dr: 5'5"
(scribbles down note on what looks like scrap paper)
me: umm... i have my shoes on.
    dr: what?
me: my shoes. i have my shoes on. i'm 5'3".
    dr: ahh. shoes. ok.
(crosses out and changes his notes)
    me: ...
(pulls out ancient looking bathroom scale from under his desk w/ his foot)
    dr: step on.
    me: ...
    dr: its ok, its ok
    me: but...
    dr: yes?
    me: nevermind.

    then, i left.
